Chaneyville Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire on Burrell Road.

The Zachary Plainsman-News named Chantal Hudson as "Today''s Woman 2009."

Real Men Wear Pink Fundraiser baseball tournament held at ZYP.

Charlesia Armstrong, Miss Northeast, and Majestic Walker, Northeast's Junior Miss were named.

ZFEST held despite rainy weather.

The annual Baker/Zachary Relay for Life event was held on the walking track behind Lane RMC.

Zachary Chamber of Commerce held its annual business leadership awards.

May

The ZHS Bronco baseball team won the state championship for the third straight year in a row.

Citizen Terry Coates was recognized as a hero by Mayor Henry Martinez and the City of Zachary for coming to the aid of former Agriculture Commissioner Bob Odom.

Zachary mourned the loss of Anita Payne on May 11. Her husband Huey Payne died on March 18.

AEDs were donated by the Zachary Kiwanis Club to Baker schools.

Local baseball player Zack Von Rosenberg was picked in the sixth-round of the draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Firefighters from Zachary, Baker, Chaneyville, Pride, Clinton and Slaughter attended annual firefighter certification training.
