CROWLEY –As Mardi Gras revelers hit the streets during the annual Mardi Gras holidays in Southwest Louisiana, safety is one thing that should be kept in mind.

Captain Vail of the Crowley Police Department, offers a few helpful advice tips.

“As most are aware, the parade route will be different this year due to the construction work downtown,” he offered. He further explained that officers will be present at each intersection at all times.

Prior to heading out to festival grounds, place an identity card with the child’s name, address, telephone contact numbers, as well as the name of a relative in your child’s pocket in case of separation.

Children should be watched carefully, especially during the parades. Never let them run out into the streets while the parade is ongoing.

As always, drink responsibly and choose a designated driver.
