Paul Elwood

LaPlace

February 12, 1921 ~ December 13, 2008

—Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2008 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of Paul Elwood LaPlace, 87, who died Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Duet officiating the services.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Landry LaPlace of Abbeville; son, Ronald LaPlace of Erath; daughter, Judy Whitmire and husband Chris of Denham Springs; grandson, Joshua LaPlace; grandaughters, Ambre Broussard and husband Kenny, Arianne Allums and husband Thomas, Jenine Warren and husband Bryan and Leah Whitmire; great granddaughters, Jada Broussard and Ava Allums; two sisters, Ruby Billiau and Ophelia Meaux; daughter-in- law Barbara Sibley LaPlace ; and a large loving extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul LaPlace; mother, Della Delino LaPlace; son, Thomas LaPlace; brother, George “Buster” LaPlace, and a sister, Helen LeBlanc.

Paul was born on February 12, 1921 on Chenier Au Tigre. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to his caregivers, Penny, Nikki and Jackie in his final days.

Wilmer Paul “Willie” Lemaire

(May 13, 1942 - December 14, 2008)



Abbeville – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Wilmer Paul Lemaire, 66, will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Father William Blanda officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Monday, December 15, 2008 , beginning at 5:00 PM until 11:00 PM , with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 8:00 AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery .

Mr. Lemarie, a native of Kaplan, and a resident of Abbeville, passed away at 8:00PM on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Lemaire was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, who was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed camping, fishing and cooking.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria Stelly Lemaire; three daughters, Veronica L. Breaux and her husband Calvin, and Paulette L. Peltier and her husband Chris both of Abbeville, and Karen L. Suire and her husband Patches of Erath; two sisters, Marie L. Miller and her husband Darrell of Groves Texas, and Linda L. Broussard and her husband Kaywood of Erath; one brother, Ules J. Lemaire of Kaplan; eight grandchildren, Ashley P. Devillier, Christopher “Bud” Peltier, Dusty R. Uriegas, Aaron J. Uriegas, Brody J. Suire, Mia M. Uriegas, Katie M. Peltier, and Dodie R. Suire; and one great grandchild Bailey R. Devillier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eulgare J. and Lillian Perry Lemaire, a daughter, Yevette L. Uriegas, and a sister, Emalie L. Cormier.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher “Bud” Peltier, Brody J. Suire, Aaron J. Uriegas, Ashley P. Devillier, Adam J. Broussard, and Leon D. Maitre, Jr.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dusty R. Uriegas, Mia M. Uriegas, Katie M. Peltier, and Dodie R. Suire.

Eva Duhon

Abbeville - A Mass of Christian Burial for Eve “Eva” Borel Duhon, 94, will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Mayne officiating. Ms. Duhon, a native of Abbeville, passed away at 11:58 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at her residence. Ms. Lemaire was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who enjoyed shopping in Abbeville and reading the newspaper.

She is survived by her daughter, Hilda S. Howard and husband James C. Howard, Sr. both of Abbeville. Step daughter, Enola D. Connor and husband Bradley Connor of Abbeville. Step son, Raymond Duhon and wife Diane Duhon of Anahuac , Texas .

She had fourteen grandchildren, twenty - eight great grandchildren and seventeen great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Octavie Thibodeaux and Alphe Borel, a sister, Lilly Borel, son John J. Sweenez, Jr, grandchild Freddie Pookie Deville, great grandsons, LeeVon J. Howard and Frankie J. Deville and great granddaughter, Sha’Shani Duhon, stepmother, Adophina Resweber Borel.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Howard, Chris Hebert, Chad Savoy, Eric Tauzin, Jeremy Rodefer and Jeremy Deville.

Annie Belle Benoit

(September 16, 1947 - December 15, 2008)



Erath – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for Annie Belle Benoit, 61, on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 3:30PM . Father Wayne Duet will be officiating.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 11:00AM until 10:00PM with a Rosary being recited by the Catholic Daughters of Erath at 4:00PM and another rosary at 7:00PM . Visitation will resume on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 8:00AM until service time. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.

A native of Lafayette Parish and a resident of Erath, Miss Benoit passed away at 6:20AM on Monday, December 15, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center . She enjoyed going to casinos and playing Bingo. She was a good mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her mother, Annie Mae Romero Benoit of Erath; her loving companion, Jules Babin of Abbeville; her daughters, Donna Lange and husband, Luke of Henry, Dawn Adams, Dana George and husband, Bryon, Darla Romero and husband, Corey, Michelle Allen and husband, John, all of Erath, and Laci Babin and Inez Babin of Abbeville; her sisters, Verna Taylor of Abbeville, Mary Arceneaux of Delcambre, Clara Trahan of New Iberia, Linda Landry of Erath, Nancy Broussard of Coteau, Helen Viator of Erath, Marie Janet Vincent of Abbeville, and Dianna Trahan of Erath; her brothers, Alvin Benoit, Larry Benoit and Wilson “Pete” Benoit, Jr., all of Erath; and her grandchildren, Jed Lange, Sabrina Thibeaux, Brittany Hebert, Sean Clay, Courtney Trahan, Kacey Richardson, Blake Landry, Christie Trahan, Jarred Lange, Blane Landry, Kobe Baker, Johneshia Allen, McKenize Allen and Devin Sam, plus, a host of brother-n-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephes.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wilson L. Benoit, Sr.; her aunt, Ruby Falgout; and her neice Megan Arceneaux.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jade Viator, John Allen, Blake Landry, Blane Landry, Jules Babin and Corey Romero. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Harrington and Codey Boutte.
