BATON ROUGE – LSU has a chance to add its name to an exclusive list on Saturday as the 18th-ranked Tigers go into the Ole Miss game needing one victory to join college football’s 700-win club.

Currently, LSU has won 699 games during its 115 years of playing football. LSU’s overall mark stands at 699-375-47. This year, LSU is 7-3 overall and the Tigers are 41-9 in four years under Les Miles.

LSU’s last milestone win came in 1997 when the Tigers picked up all-time win No. 600 in a 63-28 victory over Kentucky in Lexington. The school’s 500th victory came back in 1982 when the Tigers beat Kentucky, 34-10, in Lexington.

A win over Ole Miss will make LSU one of just 12 teams in college football’s highest division to reach the 700-win mark. Michigan is the winningest college football program, having won 871 games during its 129 years.

Other Southeastern Conference teams in the 700-club include Alabama (797), Tennessee (773) and Georgia (722).

In its history, LSU has had 10 seasons of at least 10 wins, five of which have come this decade. LSU is currently riding a streak of having won at least 11 games in three straight years.

The Tigers have also claimed 10 SEC Championships and three national titles during its history. Since the start of the 2000 season, LSU has captured three SEC titles and a pair of national championships.

The Tigers are also among the national leaders in bowl appearances (39) and bowl victories (18).
