The Ville Platte Police Department reported the completion of several investigation recently by its detective division.
Sgt. Joseph “Plywood” Fontenot reported Shannon Daigle, 38, 1515 Holly St., Pine Prairie, was charged Saturday, July 12, with aggravated second-degree battery. He said the arrest stemmed from a disturbance at a local lounge. The victim was struck with a bottle.
Detective Ervin “Chip” Pitre reported charges of aggravated second-degree battery had been filed against Clarence Lemelle, 41, 613 S. Soileau St., Ville Platte, July 4. He said a disturbance between an estranged couple led to the charges against Lemelle.
In a case involving a report of a stolen vehicle from Parkview Apartments, Pitre said charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal damage to property and theft were filed against Mickey Thomas, 19, 931 W. Long, Apt. 42, Ville Platte, and Aaron Williams Jr., 40, 910 N. Stagg St., Ville Platte. He said a lengthy investigation led to these two arrests and he said more charges are pending.
Lt. Craig Nicholas made two arrests in the June 16, carjacking, which occurred outside Subway. He said a joint investigation between Ville Platte and Eunice led officers to learn the identity of the two people who took a vehicle at gunpoint in June. Pictures were published in the news media, which led to the arrests of Nicholas Kennedy, 18, 251 Mathilda St., Eunice, and Willie Jones, 17, 1217 Martin Luther King, Ville Platte. Both remain incarcerated in the parish jail on charges of carjacking at gunpoint and on $100,000 bonds each.
Lt. Pat Foret reported charges of burglary and theft have been filed against Eddie Cullivan, 48, 509 Southwest Railroad, Ville Platte. He said a report was made after a worker went to a rental property to make repairs and reportedly saw Cullivan running from the house with a cordless drill. An investigation led to Cullivan’s arrest.
