Executive Producer Jimmy Frederick will return to do the play-by-play for “Game of the Week,” and Davey will offer color analysis for the Baton Rouge market. Blair Albene will once again serve as sideline reporter.
“We are excited to have Rohan as part of our team this year,” Frederick said. “As a former quarterback at the highest levels, he will be able to bring us inside the huddle, a perspective we have never had before.”
“’Game of the Week’ offers Louisiana fans the only pre-game show dedicated to high school football in the state and boasts some of the best color analysis and play-by-play coverage of prep programming anywhere,” Frederick continued.
The show will be broadcast live in three Louisiana markets: Baton Rouge, Acadiana and New Orleans, with separate line ups and a 6:30 p.m. Pre-Game show, followed by a 7 p.m. kick off.
The games will replay on Cox4 at 10:30 p.m. on Fridays, 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays and 9:30 a.m. on Sundays.
Veteran announcer, Jeff Palermo, will be play-by-play announcer in the Acadiana region, joined by color analyst Troy LeBoeuf and Carlis Brown as sideline reporter.
Long time New Orleans Sports figure, Eric Richey, will handle the call in the New Orleans area joined in the booth by Derek Stingley and Brandon Rizzuto on the sidelines.
“Game of the Week” allows fans to follow their favorite high school teams and get real-time scores and information about games across the state. It also showcases school communities and the positive things the students, teachers and administrators are doing.
“We’ll have 45 games from Jamboree right on to the Semifinals of the Playoffs featuring the best prep programs in the region,” said Jason Furrate, director of programming for Cox4. “This is another example of Cox’s investment in showcasing the talents and traditions of our local markets.”
Games can be viewed live only in their local markets; however, all games will be available in all markets later in week to Cox subscribers through On DEMAND, Channel 2104. (From a Cox remote, click on On DEMAND > FreeZone > Cox Local > Cox4 for a menu of games.)
The Pre-Game show will be hosted by veteran Louisiana broadcaster Jason Furrate and feature interviews with school leaders, local elected officials and community leaders from across Southeast Louisiana, but most of all it will feature football.
Other highlights of coverage:
“We are extremely excited to have the Dutchtown Griffins at home for the very first time. This marks a major milestone for the Cox 4 Game of the Week because it will be first time we have ever broadcast a live game from Ascension Parish,” Frederick said. “The Capital City will also get to see Catholic High, Parkview Baptist, Central and many more.
“Acadiana’s line up will include Acadiana, Northside, Lafayette High and Teurlings high schools,” Frederick continued. “And in New Orleans, “Game of the Week” coverage will include Rummel, Higgins, St. Aug, Destrehan and a lot more.”
Cox 4 “Game of the Week’s” ESPN award-winning “Football, Food and Families” will also be back this year as Cox 4 leverages the excitement of high school football to kick hunger. To-date, Football, Food and Families has collected more than a quarter million pounds of food thanks to the high schools that have participated in the Cox4 Game of the Week.
Cox Communications will continue to partner with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana.
Schools competing on the field each week also compete to collect can goods. The food collected is then donated to their local food bank.
