BATON ROUGE – Services for laundry and dry cleaning owner James Welsh, Jr. will be Thursday. He died July 7 at age 81.
He sold One HOur Martinizing franchises before opening Welsh’s Cleaners in 1964 at College Drive and Perkins Road. He also owned one of the largest dry cleaning equipment companies in Louisiana. He was an active quarter horseman.
Survivors include his wife Jo Ann, three sons and two daughters.
Former mayor, car dealer, vet of two wars
MER ROUGE – Services for former mayor and car dealer Theodore Parker, Sr. are Tuesday. He died July 7 at age 87.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was owner of Parker Chevrolet. He was president of Oakwood Nursing Homek, on the board of Mer Rouge State Bank and served as mayor or town council member for more than 37 years.
Survivors include his wife Mary Lou, a son and two daughters.
