Each December many spectators, coaches and athletes pack the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to watch the last 10 teams standing, compete for the Louisiana state football championship in their respective classes.

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) invites high school students to design the poster and program cover for the 2012 high school state football championship games through the 2012 LHSAA State Farm Prep Classic Poster Contest.

State Farm Insurance will again sponsor the championship games that will be held in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on December 7-8, 2012. The games are known as the 2012 LHSAA State Farm Prep Classic, and Cajun Industries will sponsor the poster contest.

This year’s Classic will be its 29th annual event and its 28th year held in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Since 1984, all LHSAA State Farm Prep Classic posters and souvenir program covers have been designed by students from LHSAA member schools.

The winner of the poster contest and his or her teacher will receive free hotel accommodations in New Orleans for one night, a feature article in the souvenir program and free passes to the 2012 LHSAA State Farm Prep Classic. The student and teacher will also be recognized at halftime of one of our 2012 State Championship games.

Past winning posters of the LHSAA State Farm Prep Classic are displayed in the LHSAA executive board room in our Baton Rouge headquarters.

Each entry must be in color, no smaller than an 8 ½ by 11 page and no bigger than a poster size. The design must - 2012 LHSAA State Farm Prep Classic - and the artist’s signature.

To qualify, contest entries must be received by the LHSAA office prior to Friday, October 5, 2012.

For more information about the poster contest, contact Chubby Montgomery in the LHSAA office at (225) 296-5882. More detailed information including rules and regulations of the contest is attached.

The LHSAA sincerely hopes that many students at our LHSAA member schools take advantage of this opportunity and participate in the contest.

Good luck, and have a great summer break!
