I have some mail I need to catch up on. Rather than sending out all these letters individually, I was just planning on writing to these people in this column…I figure they all read it when they get a chance anyway.

Thank you so much for moving on to the MLB Network so I don’t have to listen to your analysis during the College World Series. It was tough enough to listen to you during the 1st round of the draft. There were so many things you didn’t understand; I will try to clear them up for you.

Moneyball was not just about drafting college players. It was about looking at traditional baseball stats differently, and emphasizing different parts of the game. These are parts of the game that don’t demand high salaried players so that the small market teams could survive. Just so you know, you sounded foolish when you spent the end of the 1st round bashing Moneyball like it was a flop. Moneyball worked.



To Raph Rhymes,

Don’t sweat getting snubbed in the draft. Just come back to LSU, hit .450 again next year, and you will get your chance.



To LSU Baseball Fans Who Drive Themselves Crazy All Summer Worrying About Which Draft Picks Will Sign,

Nobody knows what is going to happen, and most of the news is a smokescreen. Just wait until August 16 (the day after the signing deadline), and enjoy your summer.



To LSU Baseball Fans,

Stop worrying about who and when LSU plays in the Super Regional. It has been two long years since we even played in one. Enjoy it.

Also, please realize that every game will be close this weekend. To paraphrase Coach Mainieri after this week’s regional; close games that LSU wins or hangs on to win in the end is just how it is going to be. The hitting is not good enough to blow anyone out, so the games will be close. All that matters is that LSU finds a way to win 2 of 3.



To Hornets GM Dell Demps,

I know you are going to take Anthony Davis with the first pick, which is great. I hope you can sign Eric Gordon. If you do, you will have an inside presence and a premier wing scorer with those two. Now, please take Kendall Marshall with the 10th pick in the first round who is by far the best true point guard in the draft.



To the NBA Team Picking 2-9 in the Draft,
