Dear Editor:

I recently went to the Zachary WalMart store, and since I've had knee trouble for about four months with a total knee replacement, I have the habit of checking to see if there are any scooters available for handicapped people.

When I was disabled from walking with my knee replacement, there was seldom a scooter for me to use at this WalMart, and I had to wait for someone to finish using one to do my shopping. Usually, I noticed every type of person riding a scooter; regardless whether they looked handicapped or not.

This prompted me to write articles in other newspapers to ask store officials to require scooter users to provide identification that they are handicapped. That way, not just any one could use a scooter, while real handicapped people need one.

I am proud to say that when we visited WalMart in Zachary a few days ago, there were at least ten brand new scooters available for use by handicapped people.

Even though I do not need a scooter any longer, it was gratifying to see that Walmart had all the scooters they needed for handicapped people.

I commend WalMart and any other stores or businesses who provide scooters for their handicapped customers. They are needed.  Thanks to WalMart of Zachary!

Sincerely,

Sam J. Pigno

Zachary
