Seafood company owner, civic leader

SHREVEPORT – Services will be Tuesday for businessman and civic leader Alexander Sam Mijalis. He died Feb. 17 at age 85.

He was part-owner and chairman of the board of Farmers Seafood Company. He served as chairman of the board of Bank of Commerce, president of Agean Real Estate Partnership and director of Gator Distributors.

Mijalis was chairman of the Capital Improvements Committee and active in numerous civic and community affairs.

Survivors include his wife Mary and two sons.

Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.

Former DQ owner

LAFAYETTE – Private services for businessman Howard Reed were Friday. He died Feb. 11 at age 89.

A decorated Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a native of Basile and long-time owner of Dairy Queen in Lafayette.

Survivors include is wife, Bonnie, a son and three daughters.

Arrangements were by Walters.
