Baker Police arrested a man Jan. 11 accused of attempting to burglarize a local convenience store, said Baker Police Chief Mike Knaps.

Officers arrested Joshua Hollis Janise, 21, 5513 Groom Road, in Baker, after he was caught on surveillance cameras attempting to force his way into the windows and doors of the Murphy Express gas station on Plank Road, Baker.

Knaps said employees noticed some damage to a window and when they reviewed the store’s surveillance video, they saw the recorded footage of Janise attempting to break in. The employees immediately notified police.

After reviewing the video footage themselves, Baker Police obtained the suspect’s address after making out the license plate of the vehicle he was driving when he left the convenience store, said Knaps.

Police arrived at Janise's residence a short time later, where he was arrested without incident.

Janise was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of simple criminal damage to property and one count of attempted burglary.
