Let me begin by saying I am not an expert on college football nor am I a football coach. But what makes me qualified to remark on the BCS Bowl outcome is the fact that I, like all LSU fans, Love Purple, Live Gold.

In the spirit of 'Where's Waldo?', LSU fans may still be asking: 'Where was Jared Lee?' For that matter, where were our LSU Tigers Jan. 9? What happened? Why did Jordan Jefferson stay in the game so long, and why didn't Coach Les Miles take him OUT?

So many questions, so little answers today after the undefeated LSU Tigers (13-1) lost to Alabama 21-0 in the 2012 BCS Bowl game held Monday night in New Orleans.

Fans were pumped, but the Tigers were not. Does this sound familiar? 'It's just nerves, they'll find their stride' or 'The Tigers are a second-half team, they'll come back, they always do.'

'Why do they keep running up the middle through the obviously impenetrable Alabama defense?' or "Why won't Les put Lee in?'

Look, it could have been much worse, right? Had it not been for the Tiger defense, the score could have been much higher...right?

Today, LSU fans are in mourning, playing Monday morning quarterback, but apparently someone needs to. Jefferson looked like a deer in the headlights Monday night. These were not the Tigers we so know and love. What happened? Many are saying, including myself, we should have never had to play Alabama (again) to begin with....this last statement is known as rationalizing.

But our boys were out of character, we had potentially huge plays at opportune moments, but the Tigers were off, way, way off. They were dispirited, they dragged, they were overwhelmed, and Jefferson was just not interested in running the football...so why, Les, why keep him in?

You have to hand it to the Crimson Tide though, their defense was unstoppable.

And there's no way, after a such a definitive score, the AP could even think of ranking LSU number one or splitting the BCs title. If the score had been close, maybe, but after a shutout like that, no way!

The best team doesn't always win, the team that plays the best, wins. And Alabama played better than LSU. There, I said it. And I am a true fan. Our boys had an amazing season. We know they had it in them to defeat Alabama. Heck, they did it once already.

But as Louisiana football fans are often known to do, we always look for the next silver lining in the football clouds, and to this I say......"Geaux Saints!"
