Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre offers auditions for premiere ballet companies' Summer Intensive programs

Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre will host auditions to premiere ballet companies’ summer intensive programs for the 2012 season. Summer Intensives are an extraordinary opportunity for our local ballet dancers to participate in a workshop and study dance under the supervision of some of the most elite dance instructors in the country.

This year, four ballet companies are traveling to Baton Rouge to allow our local talent to audition for a coveted spot in their programs, including Nashville Ballet, American Ballet Theatre (ABT), Magnus Midwest and Joffrey Workshop San Antonio.

All auditions are open to the public and will be held at the Dancers’ Workshop, located at 10745 Linkwood Court, in Baton Rouge.

Auditions for the Nashville Ballet Summer Intensive are on Saturday, Jan. 7. Registration is at 12:30 p.m. and auditions begin at 1:30 p.m.

American Ballet Theatre (ABT) auditions are on Saturday, Jan. 28. Registration is at 2 p.m. for dancers 12 – 14 years of age and at 4 p.m. for ages 15 and above.

This is the first year the Magnus Midwest Summer Intensive will hold auditions in Baton Rouge. Auditions are Friday, Feb. 3. Registration is at 4 p.m. and auditions begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Joffrey Workshop San Antonio auditions are on Saturday, Feb. 4. Registration is at noon and auditions begin at 12:30 p.m.

Auditions applicants must pay a registration fee and submit a photograph showing first arabesque in center in order to register. Each company has a specific set of dance level requirements.
