Baton Rouge natives and former LSU greats Glen "Big Baby" Davis, 25, and Tyrus Thomas, 25, are hosting the game to benefit their respective foundations along with the BRCC Athletic Department.
Thomas, who plays for the Charlotte Bobcats, and Davis, who plays for the Boston Celtics, have recruited many of their friends from the NBA to take part in the game including Marcus Thornton, Brandon Bass, Rudy Gay, Danny Granger, Stephen Jackson, Joakim Noah and Stephen Curry, to name a few.
The game will be aired on FOX affiliates throughout Louisiana during December with several re-broadcasts throughout the month. Times of the broadcast are to be announced.
The purpose of the charity game at BRCC is to entertain NBA fans during the lockout, while also helping the charities of Davis and Thomas who provide so much for the Baton Rouge communities that provided so much to them as youngsters.
The Tyrus Thomas Foundation’s mission is to cultivate and improve the greater Baton Rouge community by implementing programs geared towards youth outreach.
The mission of the Glen “Big Baby” Davis foundation is aimed at encouraging inner city youth to stay in school and away from defiant behavior criminal activity by focusing on literacy and healthy, athletic and recreational activities.
Tickets for the BR Classic Charity game at BRCC are bein pre-sold for $20 and will go on sale online in the coming days.
