Joy Petty is Zachary’s featured artist for the month and her work is being exhibited at the City of Zachary Utilities Office through October.

A physical therapist by trade, Petty has always possessed a deep passion for art.  As a child she dreamed of being an animator for Walt Disney.  Although life took her on a different path, in the past few years Joy has returned to her passion by learning to paint with oils and various forms of media. She now enjoys experimenting with acrylics, modeling paste, joint compound and oil paints.

Petty's artwork can be found locally at Jack & Jill Children’s Boutique and Fitness Design for Women, as well as The Foyer on Perkins Road in Baton Rouge, where she will be the featured artist this month.

She participated in the recent Evening Artwalk in Zachary and shows her work bi-annually in the White Light Night events in Mid-City Baton Rouge.  She is currently serving as Chairman of the Board for the Regional Arts Council of Zachary.

Petty has also found an artistic outlet through her popular “Paint N Pour” parties which she holds at least once a month at VooDoo BBQ & Grill in Zachary. For more information visit www.joiepetitedesigns.com or www.paintnpour.com. Also e-mail joypetty@joiepetitedesigns.com.
