A resident of Jackson, she died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at her home. She was born Sept. 3, 1953, in Wilkinson County, Miss. She is survived by a son, Delton Callender and his wife, Michelle, of St. Francisville; daughter, Carrie Ann McKenzie and her husband, Jason, of Watson; seven grandchildren, Destiny Callender, Katherine Leigh, Shyann Callender, Dustin McKenzie, Cameron McKenzie, Kaleigh McKenzie and Candace McKenzie; a sister, Helen Rowell, of Walker; three brothers, Dude Nettles, of Woodville, Miss., Dennis Nettles, of Denham Springs, and Bub Callender, of Shreveport; special nephew, Malcolm Callender, of Jackson, and his children, Dalton Callender, Adaiha Callender, Christian Callender and Breanna Callender. She was preceded in death by her parents, Buren O. Callender and Hazel Vines Vance. She was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church near Woodville. Visiting at the church on Saturday, May 21, from 11 a.m. until funeral services at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Kevin Dixon. Interment in Vines-Wesberry Cemetery, near Woodville.
