On Friday, April 8, Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Lane Carson, along with Governor Bobby Jindal and local officials, hosted a Louisiana Veterans Honor Medal ceremony to award medals to East Baton Rouge Parish and surrounding area veterans.

Gov. Jindal served as the keynote speaker for the event, thanking Louisiana veterans for their military service to the United States.

“You’re in here today because when destiny called, you did not sit idly by,” said Jindal, addressing the hundreds of veterans, friends and family members who packed the First Baptist Church of Zachary.

At the end of Jindal’s speech, veterans lined up at the front of the church to speak with the governor and receive their medals.
