Civil Service Examination

Secretary to the Fire Chief

A written examination will be given on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 9:00 a.m., in the City of Zachary Fire Department Training Room located at 4525 Main Street on a competitive basis to approve applicants for the purpose of placing names on the competitive employment list for secretary to the Fire Chief, in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Law and the rules of the Zachary Civil Service Board.

Application forms may be obtained from Tess Ricketts at 4525 Main Street (fire dept building) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

Completed applications must be received by the above-mentioned person at the address given by March 1, 2011. Approved applicants will be notified of any changes in date, time, or place of the examination at least five (5) days prior to the examination date.

Qualification Requirements For Admission To The Examination

Unless otherwise specified, all requirements listed below must be met by the filing deadline for application for admission to the examination.

Must meet all requirements of the Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Law, including being a citizen of the United States.

Must have a high school diploma or a valid certificate of equivalency issued by a state department of education.

After offer of employment, but before beginning work in this class must pass the Total Adult Battery Exam with a minimum composite score of 12.0.

After offer of employment, but before beginning work in this class, must pass a medical examination prepared and administered by an authorized Doctor, designated by the appointing authority designed to demonstrate good health and physical fitness sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
