A retired employee of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, she died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at her home in Baton Rouge. She was 65 and a native of Ethel. Visiting at Greater King David Baptist Church, 222 Blount Road, Friday, Oct. 29, from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with a religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. John Montgomery II. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. She is survived by two sons, Dwayne Pursley and Alvino Pursley; two daughters, Francisca Jerrel and Latoya Pursley; a sister, Annie G. Tate; a brother, Booker T. Johnson; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lelia Taylor Grimes. She was a graduate of Scotlandville Senior High School.
