Peyton McCulloch, of Zachary, led the field last weekend and kicked off the 2012 ZHS golf season with his first win in the boys 15-18 age group.

He claimed the title of overall tournament champion at Beaver Creek Golf Club in Zachary during the Arrowhead Junior Gold Tour - Beaver Creek Junior Classic tournament held Feb. 11-12.

Poor weather conditions and high winds made it difficult for the playing field, and low scores were hard to come by.

However, McCulloch managed to post a 76 on the first day of play, followed by another 76 on Sunday to finish overall for the weekend with a 3-shot victory.

McCulloch is a junior at Zachary High School and a member of the ZHS Bronco Golf team.

Good job, Peyton!
