ZUMC's Little School's Fall and Christmas Bazaar

The Little School is preparing for their 4th Annual Fall-Christmas Bazaar to be held on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Zachary United Methodist Church.

There will be Sweet Shop on-site that will feature cookies, pies, cakes, candies, breads and brownies for purchase.

ZUMC's youth of the church will be selling drinks, water and homemade salsa. Yum!

Various artisans will sell arts and crafts, and local businesses will be selling unique and specialty seasonal items.

Gift baskets made by Little School teachers and beautiful art work will also be available for purchase as well.

The community is invited to come out, visit and shop for the holidays at the Fall and Christmas Bazaar.

Beef brisket dinners with baked beans, potato salad and rolls will be provided by Chris’ Specialty Meats and on sale for $7 per plate.

Dinners will be ready to pick up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

ZHS Prop and Costume Sale

The Zachary High School drama department will hold a costume and prop sale in the ZHS auditorium parking lot Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Items for sale will include pants, shoes, shirts, robes, vests, masks, curtains, dance costumes, prom dresses, evening gowns, uniforms and much more.

Wildest show in the South: 46th year of prison rodeo

The Angola Prison Rodeo is back every Sunday in October, offering the best in prison rodeo excitement! Warden Burl Cain invites the public to view the wildest rodeo show in the South. Witness cowboys, striped in black and white, compete in heart-stopping events like convict poker, wild cow milking, bull riding and the world famous "Guts-n-Glory." The gates to one of the most famous prisons in the world open at 9 a.m., and the “Wildest Show in the South!” starts at 2 p.m.

Rodeo fans are encouraged to come early to hear outstanding offender gospel, blues, and country bands, feast on a wide array of Louisiana’s most famous foods, and shop the unique and affordable offender-made arts and crafts, including jewelry, leather craft, paintings, woodwork, lawn and garden furniture, and toys. Little rodeo fans will also enjoy special attractions just for them, including pony rides, space walks, carnival games, an antique carousel and lots more!

Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.angolarodeo.com or by calling 655-2030 or 655-2607 Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Rodeo proceeds promote moral-rehabilitation initiatives at Angola, as well as throughout the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.

Clinton Arena Fun Day Open Horse Show

The Clinton Arena will host a Fun Day Horse Show on Saturday, Oct. 23 at the covered arena in Clinton, located at 141730 Hwy. 10. Gates open at 7 a.m. for warm-up riding. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and show starts at 9 a.m. 
Classes include: Trail, Lead Line, Walk-Trot, Western Pleasure and Gaited Pleasure. Poles and barrels to follow. 
Age groups: Pee-Wee (11 and under), Jr (11-16), Sr (17 and up).

Each class has an entry fee, $5 and under. Refreshments will be sold. Please bring your own chairs. 
Must present Negative Coggins papers for each horse. Proper attire IS required: shirt, long pants and riding boots.

Saturday, Oct. 23 – Reunion at 4p.m., meal at 6 p.m., service to follow at 7 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 24 at 10:30 a.m. with dinner on the grounds to follow.

Rev. Jim Pender will bring the messages and Bro. Raymond Taylor will lead the music.
