Dr. Aldrich A. Davis began his life on Aug. 8, 1919, born to Samuel and Castelia Harrison Davis. A resident of Baton Rouge and native of Baker, he died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at 9:57 a.m. at age 91 at his home. Visiting at Hall Davis & Son on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visiting at Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Fred Jeff Smith, pastor. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 as well as the Army from 1949 to 1952. During this time he became a doctor of dentistry, to which he used to serve the North Baton Rouge community for more than 40 years. He married Ionia Wheelock Davis on June 9, 1949, and shared a 56-year union during which one child, Hal McKinzie Davis, was born. He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Hal McKinzie Davis; grandson, Harold DeWanye Davis, both of Baton Rouge; three sisters-in-law, Dela Mae Guliford, Santa Cruz, Calif., Idell Snowden, Natchitoches, and Elmira Wheelock, Baton Rouge; brother-in-law, Lynell Wheelock, Sausalito, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and associates.
