![]() THE LITTLE SCHOOL-Cathy Borneman, director of The Little School at Zachary United Methodist Church, enlisted the help of her 3-year-old pupils and their teachers to promote their sixth annual Fall-Christmas Bazaar. The annual outside event will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, from 8 a.m - 3 p.m. and will include a Sweet Shop featuring homemade cookies, cakes and breads baked by staff and parents. The Fall-Christmas Bazaar also features local businesses and crafters who will be selling their wares, which make perfect holiday gifts. In addition, the bazaar will include ZUMC Youth who will be selling drinks, water and homemade salsa. BBQ Chicken dinners will also be sold that day from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and will include chicken, potato salad, baked beans and bread. Baskets of Goodies - a special booth - will have breads, cakes, chocolate mixes, coffees, spiced teas and mugs which have all been prepared by The Little School staff. Trae sold the refreshing beverage for .50 cents per cup. His mom said her son loves to sell lemonade and thinks he may sell more throughout the summer but isn't sure when his next stand will be set up. Raffle-winner Emma Grace Marangos, 8, got to pal around with Zachary Mayor David Amrhein on Wednesday, May 9, for a stint as Mayor for a Day. The prize was won at a recent auction held during a Zachary school fundraiser. Emma's mom, Jennifer, said Emma won the prize of becoming Mayor for a Day by outbidding several others at the auction. During her brief "tenure" as mayor, the Zachary Elementary School 2nd-grader got to visit the Zachary Fire Department and ride in a firetruck. She also visited a pet store and toured City Hall with Mayor Amrhein. "It was really fun," Marangos said. "Everyone was really nice, and I had a great time." (PHOTO/Stacy Gill)

Every Tuesday night at Zachary restaurant Cinco De Mayo, Bubbles the Clown is there doing face painting. The Gaines family said they went with the intent of having their grandson, Charlie, getting his face painted, but by the end of their dinner, the entire familys' faces were painted.
"Bubbles was great, and we all had such a good time," said Susan Gaines.

![]() SLAUGHTER VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS TRAIN WITH "JAWS OF LIFE"
On Saturday, Feb. 25, the Slaughter Volunteer Fire Department attended a training session on how to use the Rescue Jaws of Life tools. The department recently obtained the new Hurst tools from a grant received by the Pennington Foundation. The tools help cut through metal and extricate passengers from vehicles after severe crashes.
