Shropshire services pending
First black DA
CLINTON -- Arrangements are pending for Charles Shropshire, the first elected black district attorney in Louisiana. He died Sunday at age 57.
Noel
Mrs. Velma B. Noel a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister was born October 24, 1939 and passed away at 12:43 a.m., Monday, March 8, 2010 at Hood Memorial Hospital, Amite. She was 70, a native of Lockport, LA and resident of Amite.
Visitation and religious services were held Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite. Bro. Jimmie Downing and Bro. Jake Williams officiated. Interment was in the Colonial Mausoleum, Independence.

Lawrence Jerome Law, retired Mechanical Engineer, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Baton Rouge’s Butterfly Wing at Ollie Steele Burden Manor on March 4, 2010. He was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Zachary.

Virginia "Ginnie" Hoffman Wilcox
Virginia "Ginnie" Hoffman Wilcox, a resident of Wilmer, died at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary. She was born June 5, 1928 in Garrettsville, Ohio and was 81 years of age.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.

A loving daughter and sister, Carolyn Ann Morris, 66, passed away on
Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Lane Regional Medical Center Nursing
Home. She was a native of West Feliciana Parish.
Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Monday,
February 15, 2010 from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m., conducted by Bro. Mack Stewart. Burial will be in the Shaw Family Cemetery in St.
Francisville, LA.
She is survived by two sisters: Lydia Elam and her husband Roy, of St.
Francisville, and Linda Noland Ritchie and her husband Randy, also of
