Entergy presented a $50,000 grant to Heritage Ranch in Zachary whose mission is to strengthen children, their families and the community through a Christ-centered residential children’s home.
The grant will be used to aid Heritage Ranch as it ministers to youth and their families struggling with crisis such as depression, anxiety, finances and other challenges.
The residential home will initially be open to boys, ages 13 to 18, who will live with house parents while attending school and receiving help in the areas of tutoring, counseling and life skills. Counselors will help residents with building self esteem, strengthening the family unit, health and wellness and life training skills.
Entergy awards grants to community-based projects that focus on enrichment and improvement of families. Children need to grow into healthy, well-adjusted adults.
Entergy gives funding to programs that have a direct impact on children educationally as well as emotionally to sustain healthy families.
The groundbreaking for Heritage Ranch is expected this fall, said HR executive director Vicki Ellis.
