Saturday, May 3, marks the inaugural running of Zachary's Race to the Finish 5K and 1-miler, presented by ZEPTO. Race time is 9 a.m. Zachary’s Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (more commonly known as ZEPTO) is a non-profit, volunteer driven organization that supports all five of Zachary’s elementary schools.

The American Cancer Society's annual Relay for Life event for the communities of Baker and Zachary was held April 11 to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer and lost, the survivors who have won and the memories of loved ones who have lost. They all came together to fight back against the disease of cancer.

Wednesday, April 23, is the deadline to register for Daisy Chains Luncheon at FBCZ on May 3. Call First Baptist Church at 654-2755. No cost to attend.

Twenty years ago this July 4, Jorenda Thornton and her late husband Kevin got the news no parents want to get. Their oldest son Brent, out with friends getting fireworks, was killed when a drunk driver crashed into their vehicle. He was 15.
