Louisiana Legacy will conduct open tryouts for its 11U team at Zachary Youth Park, 1650 Mount Pleasant Road. Tryouts will be held on Field 4 from noon to 3 p.m. this Sunday, Aug. 3. Your son does NOT have to be 11 to try out for the 11U team. Players should bring their own glove and wear appropriate clothing and shoes.

BHS grad ready to make “The Leland” proud

Southern bound Baker graduate, Kelli Marks, received a $500 book scholarship because of where she lives in Baker, a community known as "The Leland" and named for its proximity to the former Leland College.

Kelli Marks is on her way to Southern University in Baton Rouge, and the Baker High School grad will have a little something extra when she arrives on Aug. 18.
