William “Gene” Cox Sr. was born on August 25, 1941 and passed away at 11:45 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2009 at his residence in Walker. He was 68-years-old and a native of Antlers, Oklahoma. Graveside Funeral Services were held at the Hillsdale Cemetary on Thursday, December 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Bro. Darryl Miller officiating. Mr. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Betty Hoyt Cox, Walker; son, William Gene “Billy” Cox, Jr., Walker; brother, Jerry Cox and sister-in-law, Carolyne Cox, Zachary; granddaughter, Megan E. Wagner, Barlow, Kentucky; father-in-law, Charlie Hoyt, Amite; sister-in-law, Bonnie Thompson and husband, Buster, Amite; two nieces, two great-nieces, and four great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Cox; mother, Fern Holton; grandmother, Josey Hawes; aunt, Hick Garman; mother-in-law, Margie S. Hoyt; and step-mother-in-law, Mrytle Sharkey Hoyt.
