Baker sweeps Parkview Baptist

The Baker High School Basketball Team’s enjoyed a great week with big wins in district play. The Buffalos picked up two big wins while the Lady Buffalos ended another solid week with a big 73-45 win over the Parkview Baptist Lady Eagles.
First, last week the Buffalos beat rival Northeast 63-53 in a district 7-3A game. Baker used a strong run in the third quarter to pull away from the Vikings. Leading 27-23 at halftime the Buffalos opened the second half by going on a 19-10 run.
Myron Williams went on a tear as he led the Buffalos with a high of 20 points. Edward Brown was solid as well with 12 points. The Vikings closed the game with a 20-17 run but it would not be enough as Baker went on to win the game 63-53.
The later in the week Baker faced Parkview in two district games. In the girl’s game Baker coasted to a 73-45 win over the Lady Eagles. Baker built a 31-18 halftime lead and never looked back in their big win.
Ashante Brown paced Baker with a game high 22 points in the game. Brianna Whitfield was also hot on the floor as she poured in 17 while Erika LeFlore added 15 for the Lady Buffalos. Baker came out in the second half and put the game on ice with a 42 point effort.
The Lady Buffalos outscored Parkview 42-27 and coasted to a 73-45 win. Then later on that night the Buffalos helped Baker pick up a clean sweep over Parkview with a 54-51 win over the Eagles.
Parkview looked as if they were on their way to a big win as they jumped out to an 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. But Baker came back and closed the first half with a 15-6 run to tie the game at 24-24 at halftime.
Myron Williams continued his strong play as he led all scorers with 23 points while Edward Brown chipped in ten points and Lionel Leduff added eight points for Baker. Baker came out strong in the third with a 19-14 run and then they went on to win the game 54-51.
Baker improved to 9-12 overall but more importantly 2-1 in district 7-3A competition.
