LED sign for audio business tabled until next meeting

The Zachary City Council approved several requests for home occupational permits at the Tuesday, March 9 meeting.
Joy Petty, sole proprietor of Joie Petite Designs, was granted a waiver to conduct her business matters from her home on Lake Pointe Drive.
The primary function of her company, she says, would be the composition of commissioned art to be sold, as well as beginner art classes based around a casual social platform of group instruction.
"The whole purpose is to bring arts more into the community," said Petty.

Baker High School was looking to continue a historic ride as its Girls Basketball team made it to the LHSAA Sweet 16 for the first time; and with a win over Madison in the Class 3A Semi-finals, Baker was one win away from capturing their first state title in the sport as well.
The season, with so much excitement, so much promise and so many big wins and dynamic plays, did not end the way Coach Michael Stephens and his team wanted it to as Baker lost to Carroll 70-58.

Sewer issue a concern for Zachary resident

Letter to the Editor

The Zachary City Council recently held an open meeting on the question of a new sewer treatment plant for the city. I missed that meeting, but the second one is on Saturday, March 27 at the library at 10 a.m. I intend to ask two questions: it is my understanding that the current treatment plant in East Baton Rouge Parish has enough capacity to treat Zachary sewerage now and with projected growth for at least 10 years.
